Sakina Walli-Merali

Sr. Sakina is originally from Toronto, Ontario. She holds an undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Arts – Early Childhood Education from Ryerson University in Toronto. Following her graduation, she embarked on a journey to acquire a master’s degree in education with a focus on the Social Cultural Context of Education, with a thesis on Reading Recovery. Her unwavering dedication to the education of young minds inspired her to obtain a Bachelor of Education in Primary/Junior from the esteemed Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto.

Commencing her career with the Toronto District School Board, Sr. Sakina eventually relocated to British Columbia due to her marriage. She earned a Baccalaureate Diploma in Education. She then joined the Surrey Muslim School as a Grade 2 Homeroom Teacher. Her dedication and commitment shone brightly during her 2.5-year tenure. Seeking fresh challenges, she transitioned into the role of a Kindergarten Teacher, where she continued to excel for three years.
In her leisure time, Sr. Sakina indulges in her love for reading, travels, and cherishes moments with her family. She is looking forward to an exciting new school year where she can nurture the young minds of tomorrow.
